RIU Palace Costa Rica is a family all inclusive resort about 40 minutes from the Liberia airport. Join me on a walk through resort tour:
Important things to know:
Many guests were very surprised to find out this area of Costa Rica is very dry between December to April. The resort is about a 2 hour drive from the rain forest.
It's black sand beach because it's volcanic. The sand can get very hot.
It's hot. It was around 100 degrees each day.
Things I think you'll like:
Large pools
Great service. The swim up bar bartenders are the best we've ever seen.
The resort is very clean. We constantly saw people cleaning and clearing cups and dishes.
The buffets - RIU Palace does a great job with buffets. The breakfast buffet had twenty different egg dishes. Overall, we enjoyed all our meals at this resort.
Things you may not like:
Bathrooms have no privacy for the shower. The toilet is behind a door, but you walk out of the shower into the open room.
Rooms are simple and may be a little dated.
Three of the dinner restaurants are buffet. The steakhouse and the Italian restaurant have a buffet with the option to order a main course.
Tips for your trip:
For Krystal and Tokyo specialty restaurants, go right when the restaurant opens. The restaurants are very small and usually only do two seatings per night.
Download the App upon arrival. You'll be able to see the activity schedule and the restaurant menus. The restaurant menus are QR codes so you will need your phone.
Be sure to check out the water park, disco, fitness center, and shopping street shared with RIU Guanacaste
Up Next: I'll share the differences between the RIU Palace Costa Rica and the RIU Guanacaste next door.
